We’ve bagged bragging rights again

Our super reliability, superfast speeds and supercharged service has seen us crowned the UK’s best network for the ninth year running* by RootMetrics, the independent mobile analytics firm. In fact, we won or shared every UK-wide RootScore Award while comfortably earning the most accolades across the nations and in  major cities.

*Rankings based on the RootMetrics® UK RootScore® Report: From 2H 2013 to 1H 2022. Tested with best commercially available smartphones on four national mobile networks across all available network types. Your experiences may vary. The RootMetrics award is not an endorsement of EE. You can always call on us

Hybrid working, endless Zoom calls and the need to stay connected on the go remains the norm for most businesses. It’s why we’re as focused as ever on providing a service that’s reliable, responsible and lightning fast in every corner of the UK.

  • The first operator to provide unbeatable 5G to over 50% of the UK.
  • We’re committed to offering 5G anywhere in the UK by 2028.
  • Our 4G covers 99% of the UK population (and we’re working hard on that last 1%).
  • We’re expanding 4G in 2,000+ areas by June 2024 to improve rural connectivity across the UK as part of the Shared Rural Network programme.
  • The EE network is powered by 100% renewable electricity.

UK Wide Speeds

In our always-on world, speed is increasingly king. It’s why we’ve boosted our median UK-wide speeds by a massive 53%* since 2020 to 66.2 Mbps. To put that speed into perspective, it means you can download your 4K brand films and 100-slide PowerPoint epics in just minutes, while jumping on a video call at the same time. It also means our average download speeds are twice as fast as Three and Vodafone and a whopping four times faster than Virgin Media O2. And did we mention that we’re the fastest in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?

COMMITTED TO CONNECTIVITY

While we’re proud as punch about our superfast speeds, we’re equally as chuffed that everyone in the UK gets to benefit from them – not just those living in big cities. In the latest RootMetrics report we earned a whopping 25 UK Nation RootScore Awards out of 28 total chances, including the Overall RootScore Award in each nation for the third straight year.

While 30% of the UK workforce now work remotely at least once a week, we remain as dedicated as ever to keeping your customers connected in the city… at the train station… or wherever the big pitch or presentation is taking place. It’s the reason in RootMetrics’ latest RootScore Awards we remained the top performer at the metro level in terms of speed, data, reliability and more.

BEYOND SPEED AND COVERAGE

As you can probably tell by now, we’re mighty proud of our latest RootMetrics scores. But we’re equally chuffed that our superfast speeds and super reliable services are helping inventors, scientists and even spacemen too. Time for a few highlights.

To infinity and beyond

Did you know BT has been a significant contributor to the UK space economy since 1962? We beamed the moon landing to UK screens, launched the world’s first satellite telephone system on a British Airways 747 and set global standards for open parabolic satellite dish design – and that’s just the start of the story.

Flying high

We're powering the futures of drone solutions through partnerships, innovative technology and our award-winning network.

Rise of the machines

BT recently open the UK’s first telecoms robotics test lab that will seriously speed up infrastructure rollout.

Glasto’s top supporting act

We made sure thousands of Glastonbury goers could make their Instagram and Facebook followers jealous by bolstering 5G at the festival

Keeping spirits up in lockdown

During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, our networks stood up to the surge of pressure caused from remote working, online learning and boredom-busting boxset binging.

Calm, cool and collected

When the UK hit record temperatures in July 2022 BT’s data centres, exchanges, routers and mobile sites all kept their cool – ensuring life-saving calls could still be made.

Step into the action

EE and BT Sport are reimagining the experience of watching live sports, dance, music and theatre through VR, AR and mixed reality applications – enabling users to control the action from any angle.

A winning game plan

BT supported the BBC’s Commonwealth Games coverage with a cutting-edge 5G Private Network solution – the first time one’s been used for an event on this scale in Europe

The innovation will be televised

Standing still has never been our style, which is why BT Sport launched Innovate 21 – a competition that encouraged entrepreneurs, creatives and start-ups to pitch new sports broadcast innovations that would enhance the viewing experience for customers.

GREAT IN AN EMERGENCY

Did you know we’re trusted by the Home Office to provide Great Britain’s emergency services voice and data network? That means it’s our job to give frontline workers cutting-edge communication technology they can rely on even in rural and remote areas.

  • As the UK’s fastest network we’re able to provide voice and data services to over 300K emergency services users.
  • We enable ambulances to send vital patient data to hospitals so staff can prepare for a patient’s arrival.
  • We help police officers record an arrest on their body cams and livestream it for assessment and support.
  • We enable fire and rescue crews to assess burning buildings, based on digital blueprints on tablets and live helicopter camera footage.

Why choose EE for your business? Because thanks to our consistently superfast speeds, proven performance and dedicated people we remain the top-performing operator in the UK according to RootMetrics®. And that’s down to our mindset that good isn’t good enough – and fast isn’t fast enough.
